Privacy Policy

Short version: iMacroPad works between your own devices, on your own network. There is no account, no tracking and no analytics in the app, and nothing is sent to us. A few panels you choose to show fetch public data, such as the weather. This page lists each one. This website counts visits, and uses Google Analytics only if you accept it.

Effective 17 October 2026

01Your devices talk to each other

iMacroPad has two halves: the app on the iPad or iPhone, and iMacroPad for Mac. The pad finds the Mac on your local network with Bonjour and connects to it directly. Keys, layouts, app names and icons, the volume and the rest of the state travel only between your devices. They do not go over the internet, and they never reach us.

  • Local Network. iOS asks before the pad may look for the Mac. This is all the permission is used for.
  • PIN. You can set a PIN on the Mac so only your pad can connect. It is stored on your devices.
  • Your settings (layouts, themes, macros, voice commands, widgets) are stored on the device that made them.

02What we do not collect

  • There is no account and no sign-in.
  • The apps contain no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. They do not report usage or crashes to us.
  • We do not receive your keys, layouts, macros, calendars, photos or anything else from the apps.

03Panels that fetch public data

Some screensaver and widget panels show information from the internet. They only fetch it while you use them, they need no key or account, and the services answer the app directly, not through us.

PanelServiceWhat is sent
Weather and air qualityOpen-MeteoThe coordinates of the city you chose (not your device’s location: the app does not use location services), and whether to use °F and mph.
City searchOpen-MeteoThe city name you type in Settings, to find it.
CurrencyFrankfurterThe currency pair you chose, such as EUR/GBP.
CryptoCoinGeckoThe coin you chose, such as bitcoin.

As with any web request, these services see your IP address. Their own privacy policies apply. If you do not use these panels, nothing is fetched.

04Data that stays on the device

  • Calendars and reminders. The screensaver’s calendar panels read them on the device that shows them, only after you allow it. They are not sent to the Mac, to us or anywhere else. You choose which calendars count.
  • Photos. Pictures you pick for the screensaver or a theme are copied into the app on that device. They are not uploaded.
  • Microphone and speech. The microphone listens only when you tap it. Speech is turned into text on the device when the device supports it; when it does not, Apple’s speech recognition handles it under Apple’s privacy policy. The text is sent to your Mac as a command.
  • Words on screen. Macros that click words on screen need Screen Recording on the Mac. The Mac reads the screen itself, and the picture is not stored or sent anywhere.
  • Accessibility and Automation on the Mac let it press keys and talk to apps such as Photoshop and Teams on the same Mac.

05Plugins and app integrations

A plugin can add calls to other services, for example an AI image service. These are the only times iMacroPad may send your data to a server you did not pick in a panel:

  • A plugin from a file or a link must say what it needs and why. Each permission is shown with its reason and a switch, all off. What stays off is removed from the installed copy.
  • network lets it call the servers it names. clipboard lets it send the text on your Mac’s clipboard to them. Without these, it cannot do either.
  • The Mac makes the calls, only when you press a key that uses one. Keys and tokens for those services are kept in the Mac’s keychain.
  • What a service does with what it receives is up to that service and its own policy.
  • Installing a plugin from a link downloads that file from the address you entered.
  • OBS is reached through its own WebSocket server, on your Mac or your network.

06This website

  • The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web server, it handles your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and keep the site safe.
  • The site loads no advertising or social media scripts. Fonts are served from the site itself.
  • The only cookies are those of Google Analytics, and only if you accept them. See Website analytics.
  • The support form opens your own mail app. Nothing is sent until you send the email.

07Website analytics

We want to know which pages help people. We use two tools for this, on the website only. The apps contain no analytics.

  • Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits without cookies. It does not track you across sites and does not build a profile of you. It runs for every visitor.
  • Google Analytics 4 loads only after you accept it in the cookie banner. If you choose “No thanks” or do nothing, it does not load and sets no cookies.
  • When you accept, Google Analytics sets its own cookies (named _ga) and collects the pages you view, how you got to the site, your device, browser and screen size, and your approximate location (country and city). Google uses your IP address to estimate the location and does not store the full address.
  • Google signals and advertising features are switched off. We do not use the data for advertising, and we do not combine it with other data about you.
  • Analytics data is kept for 14 months, then deleted.
  • Google processes the data for us as our processor, under Google’s data processing terms. Google may process it outside your country, including in the United States, with the safeguards those terms provide, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
  • Your choice is kept in your browser’s local storage, not in a cookie. You can change it at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw consent, Google Analytics stops loading. You can also clear the cookies in your browser.

08Buying and support

  • Purchases outside the App Store. Purchases open at launch. Payments outside the App Store are handled by our payment provider, which acts as the merchant of record. It collects what it needs to take the payment, charge the right tax and send your receipt and licence key, such as your name, email address, country and payment details, under its own privacy policy. We receive your email address, order and licence details, never your full card details.
  • App Store. Purchases in the App Store are handled by Apple. We do not receive your Apple Account details.
  • Email. When you write to us, we use your message and address only to answer you and help with your licence.

09Your choices

  • You can switch off Local Network, Calendars, Reminders, Microphone and Speech Recognition at any time in the device’s Settings.
  • Deleting the app removes what it stored on that device.
  • On this website, you can accept or refuse Google Analytics, and change your mind at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer.
  • You can ask us what we hold about you (usually an email thread and a licence), ask us to correct it or delete it. Write to us and we will answer within 30 days. Some purchase records must be kept by law.

10Children

iMacroPad is not aimed at children and collects nothing that would identify a child.

11Changes and contact
